The techniques of Mayan Abdominal Massage Therapy, which consist of external massage strokes over the abdomen that help to re-position or re-align a misplaced uterus, increase arterial and venous blood flow, nerve function, lymphatic drainage and free flowing qi are a great, natural way to nourish the pelvic bowl and enhance fertility. Conditions such as scar tissue from previous abdominal surgeries, uterine or cervical issues, endometriosis, PCOS, congestion of the fallopian tubes, fibroids and cysts can all be improved with massage and regular self care at home.

Mayan Abdominal Massage helps to break down accumulated scar tissue that may have formed from previous surgery. Often the scar tissue can cause an increase in pain and cramping during your period, or obstruct blood flow to the uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes. Damage to fallopian tubes can occur from a malpositioned uterus, where sometimes the uterus will lay on top of the tubes, not allowing to receive either egg or sperm. By clearing these types of obstructions, blood flow is improved bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the reproductive organs.

Cervical stenosis, or a narrowing of the cervix, can be caused by an inherited malformation or damage to the cervix from scar tissue or adhesions. Gentle massage can help to stretch the tissue to eliminate adhesions and allow for better blood flow. Congestion in the uterus can cause more painful periods or dark blood at the beginning or end of the menstrual cycle. Massage and vaginal steams are helpful in clearing away old tissue for a healthy endometrial lining.

Endometriosis occurs when tissue that normally grows on the uterine lining implants and grows in other locations outside the uterus including the intestinal tract. This extra tissue growth creates a web of scarring and adhesions that impacts the function of the uterus or ovaries. Mayan Abdominal Massage Therapy helps to break up the adhesions and allow the excess tissue to flow from the body.

With Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), hormonal changes in the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovaries have a negative effect on ovulation. PCOS is associated with insulin resistance and obesity, abnormal hair growth on the face or body, and a lack of ovulation and affects up to 10 percent of women trying to conceive. Regular abdominal massage, changes in diet and exercise can all help to improve hormone balance.

This specific type of massage can help to improve many fertility challenges that affect ovulation or a congested pelvis. Self care massage techniques are taught to enhance the abdominal massage that is performed in the office. Other therapies include dietary changes or vaginal steams to enhance the health of the reproductive organs.
