The Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) is a wonderful treatment to add in along with other therapies you may be receiving during the ART process. Ideally, ATMAT treatments should start three months prior to trying to conceive, but can be done while in the process of preparing for an IUI or IVF. The massage focus is to correct uterine malposition, and increase blood and hormonal flow.
During the IVF process, the recommended number of treatments is four to five, depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle. At least two treatments should be done before the stimulation phase. This will help to remove any blockages or adhesions in the uterus, around the ovaries or fallopian tubes. One massage at the start of stimulation drugs can help to more fully circulate the hormones to the ovaries, and also decrease swelling in the abdomen, as well as feeling pelvic pressure. Another massage one to three days before your transfer will help encourage a nice, thick endometrial lining and decrease stress.
Your ATMAT practitioner will develop a treatment plan specifically for you depending on where you are in the process of trying to conceive. The massage is a relaxing, nurturing experience that will help to support your body throughout the ART process.
