Many patients diligently research the benefits of fertility acupuncture and actively seek ways to improve their chances of a successful pregnancy. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can complement their efforts with their fertility doctor in a gentle and compassionate manner. ilumina has collaborated with fertility clinics in the valley since 2001, and all our practitioners are ABORM fertility acupuncture specialists.

Benefits of Acupuncture & Integrative Therapies for Assisted Reproductive Treatments:

- Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine can reduce stress and promote relaxation.
- They can enhance the effectiveness of IUI/IVF medications.
- They can improve the uterine lining.
- They can improve blood flow to the ovaries and uterus.
- They can improve egg quality and ovarian response.
- They can address male factor infertility.
- They can minimize medication side effects.
- They can reduce miscarriage and increase live birth rates.

Acupuncture can treat various conditions, including advanced maternal age, low AMH, elevated FSH, poor ovarian response, premature ovarian insufficiency, PCOS, unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, implantation failure, and autoimmune disorders.

Treatments and Timing:

- For optimal response, acupuncture and integrative therapies are recommended before the start of a medicated or IUI cycle.
- For an IVF retrieval cycle, acupuncture and integrative therapies are ideally initiated 3-4 months prior to egg capture. This duration is based on positively influencing the development and healthy maturation of the eggs.
- For a Frozen IVF cycle, acupuncture and integrative therapies should be continued after a retrieval cycle or 8 weeks prior to transfer to prepare the body for a healthy pregnancy and optimal uterine health. Pre- and post-transfer day acupuncture, which includes an acupuncture treatment right before and right after the embryo transfer at your fertility clinic, is highly recommended.
Follow assisted reproductive treatments with acupuncture once a week. If you’re pregnant, continue acupuncture 1-2 times per week for the first 12 weeks.

Starting acupuncture at any stage of the process is beneficial. It’s never too late to begin.

Each treatment plan, crafted by our practitioners, is tailored to the individual based on their health history, the fertility clinic’s schedule, and what will yield the best results. We collaborate closely with each person to develop treatment plans that leverage our most experienced expertise, proven recommendations, and compassionate consideration.
